The original West End production of Joshua Harmon’s Bad Jews is back, and the anticipation is mounting. It’s on stage at the Arts Theatre this summer between 14th July and 25th September 2022. The show reprises the original West End production, featuring the scenic designer Richard Kent, the lighting designer Richard Howell, and sound designer Adrienne Quartly. Jon Pashley directs, taking over from Michael Longhurst.
The comedy follows Daphna Feygenbaum, a ‘proper’ Jew who even has a genuine Israeli boyfriend, and her cousin Liam. Liam brings his non-Jewish girlfriend Melody home for the funeral of his grandfather, whose heirloom chai necklace becomes the focus of a massive family bust-up. But the brawl doesn’t stop there. It extends and flows until it covers the wider themes of family, faith, and legacy. The result is a hilarious play that’s been called ‘ferocious’, which sold out two West End runs in 2014 /15. It’s great to have it back!
