Arts Theatre Seating Plan

Arts Theatre seating plan

At the beginning of 1927, the Arts Theatre opened as a private members club. It became renowned for staging unlicensed and avant-garde theatre. After a long history of hits and misses, the theatre opened again in 2010 under new ownership and management for the express purposes of staging short runs of new plays, cabaret and comedy and as a viable alternative to the larger West End venues. The Arts Theatre is one of the most intimate theatres in the West End, seating around 350 people and split over two levels; the stalls and the circle.

The stalls

In general, the view of the stage is best from the centre of the stalls. This section exists as one block of seats with an aisle on each side of the section. However, some productions decide to use a different seating configuration, so it is best to always check with the theatre before booking your tickets. Seats situated at the extreme sides of the auditorium should be avoided at all costs, due to the bad sightlines to the stage. There are supporting pillars around seven to eight rows back and can restrict the view for the seats behind for two to three rows back from them. The stalls are not accessible to wheelchair users due to steps.

The circle

The circle is formed of three sides in a thrust style – one main center block and two small rows on either side of the stage. The front section is very shallow, comprised of just six rows. This small depth means that the sightlines to the stage are incredibly good from here. The two side sections mean the view to the stage is side-on, but there are no obstructions down onto the stage. The circle has level access and space for one wheelchair.
