Oleanna

Oleanna was first produced in 1992. Playwright David Mamet adapted it for the big screen two years later. Both proved monster hits, and both caused a scandal in a world where nobody except those involved realised quite how alive and well sexual harassment and sexism were. The plot examines the very definition of sexual harassment through the interactions between the professor John and his female student Carol. And, sadly, it remains just as relevant. Some things have changed, but too many things remain the same almost 30 years later. The 'Me Too' and Everyone's Invited' movements prove the point.

Rosie Sheehy plays Carol, an actor with top class dramatic credentials. Her best-loved work includes the RSC's King John, plus Uncle Vanya, The Whale, Strife, The Hairy Ape and Chicken. Jonathan Slinger, who plays the lecturer John, thrilled us as Willy Wonka in the stage production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, along with great work for the RSC and in the hilarious political comedy Yes, Prime Minister. Director Lucy Bailey's reputation precedes her with fabulous hits like Gaslight's UK Tour, Witness for the Prosecution, Love From A Stranger, The Graduate, Comus and more. And the playwright David Mamet needs no introduction as one of our best-loved stage and film voices, with multiple awards under his belt.
